The Netherlands now has the highest percentage of broadband-connected households in the European Union, and the Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX) has been providing connectivity to enterprise customers since the early days of the web. The Internet and all its applications have almost become part of our senses these days. Many of us feel the need to be online 24 hours a day, to be interconnected with friends, family, colleagues and customers, or with the world at large. This interconnectivity of people is fed by the interconnectivity of the networks they are using, which is the main purpose of AMS-IX. AMS-IX (Amsterdam Internet Exchange) is a neutral and independent Internet Exchange based in Amsterdam. With over 800 customers, the AMS-IX is the largest IP internet exchange in the wor...
This dude woke up found out that if he paid just 7.5 euros extra he would upgrade from a 100MB to 500MB up\down speed! Check out the results yourself :D !! - 2MB ADSL is the fastest unlimited internet connection available for consumers in Egypt & higher speeds are limited GBs per month! - 100MB Internet is a common speed in Holland several years ago.

The CAI Herderwijk Project (The Netherlands, Gelderland) used a participatory process -pro-actively stimulating demand for high-speed connectivity in the local community. It also developed a detailed map inventorying existing ducts in civil infrastructures and town works planned by local municipalities as well as by energy companies operating in the area. It has been awarded in the category on open access and competition. The European Broadband Awards are organized by the European Commission and showcase best practices to many project promoters across Europe. Originally Published on TelecomTV.com 11 Nov 2014 http://www.telecomtv.com/articles/bbwf/huawei-sees-synergies-as-key-to-optimising-broadband-value-for-telcos-11932/ --- The European Commission and policy makers want to encourage more investment in broadband throughout Europe, which is a little behind that of South Korea and parts of the US. There is plenty of demand for higher speeds from end user consumers and businesses, but how can operators benefit from broadband investment? They need to focus on the synergies between fixed and mobile, and also their own services and those of OTT providers. Filmed at Broadband World Forum, Amsterdam, 21-23 October, 2014.
“The Helsinki Optical Fibre Cooperative” is a project deployed in Marttila, which is a small village-like neighborhood in the Helsinki metropolitan area where war veterans and invalids built their own modest homes in the late 1940s. As the building density is low private teleoperators were not interested in bringing in fiber technology. The residents established a cooperative. They built their own high-capacity network where 4 fibres to every connected home allow for broad competition and meets any foreseeable future communications needs. All planning and much of the work has been done by cooperative members themselves who continue to own and manage the network.
Originally Published on TelecomTV.com 13 Nov 2014 http://www.telecomtv.com/articles/bbwf/telekom-malaysias-broadband-strategy-11958/ --- Telekom Malaysia wants to be the primary convergence operator in the country, and so is looking again at mobile, having previously spun off its mobile business. It is also expanding its FTTH offerings over the next year, upgrading existing customers' connections. Telcos alone can't come up with all the best new ideas and business models, which is why Telekom Malaysia has created its Innovation Exchange, recognising that it needs to embrace other providers, including OTT players and local start-ups. It wants to drive the total communications ecosystem in the country. And to ensure it meets its goals, it works closely with the government to deliver its N...

Speaker: Girish Chandran Most airlines offer wireless Internet on some or all of their aircraft. In-flight connectivity, which was initially tailored to suit business travelers, has now become part of mainstream. JetBlue recently announced a free WiFi service with 12Mbps to each passenger. This is made possible with a new generation of high capacity Ka-band satellites that fundamentally alter the economics of aeronautical broadband. This talk will cover spot beam satellites, complexities of handoffs, and networking on the ground that are required for providing near-terrestrial performance to passengers. - See more at: http://www.nanog.org/meetings/nanog59/agenda#sthash.sleX9uvX.dpuf
